How long can you play for?
We can play for anything from 1 to 4 hours, with 15 minute breaks between each 45 minute set.
At what time of day will you play?
Anytime. Obviously very late gigs will be more expensive.
How much do you charge?
This will depend upon whether you want a trio, quartet or quintet, the length of
the gig, the time of day, the day of the week, where the
venue is & the type of gig. Our costs are quite modest however
and I would suggest that you discuss your requirements with us so that we can give you a quote.
How do you make a booking?
Ring us, discuss your needs, tells us when you want us to play, and we will be able to tell you whether we can do the gig. We will then confirm this in writing. We ask for a small deposit of 10% of the fee to make a reservation, which will then be part of the cost of the gig.
Can I have a singer in addition to the band?
This can be arranged. You can have a choice of any combination of musicians to suit your event and venue.
Do we need a map of where the venue is?
This usually helps, but we are happy to rely on good directions and the postcode!.
How do we dress?
Smart casual dress.
Do we need access to a piano?
No - we bring all our instruments and the equipment we need. We do need access to at least one power point so that we can plug in our amplifiers etc.
How loud are we?
We play at a volume that is not intrusive to normal conversation, and we will vary it to suit the needs of the situation. Our quintet is obviously louder than the quartet and so on, but the type of event always determines actually how loud the music should be. Basically, we are flexible and attentive to our customers' needs.
Do we play outside?
Yes - although we would advise that there is adequate cover for the band, unless you want to take a risk and rely on the weather being dry. If the venue has an inside and an outside place that we can perform from depending on the weather then there should be no problem.
When do we arrive at the venue? We would normally like to arrive about 45 minutes to one hour before we are due start playing. This allows us to set up without rushing. Once our instruments and equipment are at the venue and are near to where we are to play, we could be ready within 20 minutes.
How far ahead can I book?
We will not accept bookings for gigs greater than 18 months in advance.
What happens if I need to cancel?
We understand that problems can arise and we'll be happy to accept your cancellation and return your deposit in full if you inform us 4 weeks before the agreed event date. The full gig fee will be payable if 7 days or less notice is given.
What form of payment will you accept? The deposit may be paid by cheque made payable to Bob Colter, the rest of the balance must be paid by cash.
How much room do we need?
We will fit into an area of about 4 x 2 metres, although it is surprising how small a space we can fit into!
